Bingo Jackpots - Bingo Information

When you play bingo online you will find that all of the sites will have on offer at least one type of jackpot game for their players, whether it is a progressive jackpot, a snowball jackpot, coverall jackpots or guaranteed cash games.  So what is the difference between these different types of jackpots?

Progressive Jackpots

A progressive jackpot is a prize pot that is built up every time that a bingo ticket is purchased by players as a percentage of the money from ticket sales is added into the prize pot.  This prize pot can then be won if you bingo within a specified number of calls.  For most bingo sites that offer a progressive jackpot on their 90 ball bingo games, the prize pot is played for every game so could be won at any time day or night.

Whereas sites that offer a progressive jackpot on their 75 ball bingo games, the jackpot can usually played for and won on a special pattern game although some sites offer a progressive jackpot on every game but the number of calls needed to win the progressive jackpot will differ dependent on the pattern that is being played at that time.

Once the progressive jackpot prize has been won it will revert back to the original starting cash amount that varies from site to site, and will start to accrue again with ticket sales.

Snowball Jackpots

Not many online bingo sites off a snowball jackpot as an option. A snowball jackpot as the name suggests is a jackpot where as well as the prize pot increasing the number of calls needed to win the jackpot will also increase over a specified period of time, this could be daily, every couple of days, weekly etc.

So for example on a 90 ball bingo game, the jackpot could start off being needed to be won if you got a full house win within 40 calls, and would then increase to 41 calls, 42 calls etc the longer the prize pot is not won.  Once it has been won the snowball jackpot would revert back to the starting cash sum and number of calls needed.

Coverall Jackpots

A coverall game, as the name might suggest, is a pattern game where you have to get all the numbers on your bingo ticket to ‘cover them all’.  These games normally have a starting prize jackpot and this would be won if you complete your card within a specified number of calls.

However, there is normally a rolling scale and the prize pot will reduce accordingly as more and more balls are called, it should be easy to find details of the amounts paid out based on calls from the websites.

These games will have a minimum cash sum that would be payable, so for example, if you play the £1 million coverall games that are played on many of the 888 Holdings (Globalcom) sites you would receive this lovely cash amount if you completed your card within 40 calls.

Now I’m sure you are all imagining what you could spend this lovely lump sum but I’m afraid it is a completely unrealistic target. The actual amount you could win will reduce every ball thereafter until call 54 where the amount now displaying will be the amount you will win if you are the lucky winner of the game.

Guaranteed Cash Games

These games are becoming more and more popular at online bingo sites.  The games are played for a guaranteed cash sum so you know how much you could win regardless of whether it takes you 40 calls or 75 calls to cover your bingo card.

Most sites only offer these guaranteed prize games on 75 ball bingo games, however a few sites are now starting to offer these guaranteed prize games on their 90 ball bingo games as well with guaranteed amounts for completing 1 line, 2 lines and the full house.

If you were the only winner of these games you would take away the whole amount for yourself but if there are other winners you would share the cash sum between you all. As my granny used to say ‘It’s good to share’..

As well as guaranteed cash prizes, bingo sites are now also starting to offer prize games as well using the same format. The main difference here is that if there is more than one winner they would share the cash value of the prize, they would not each get the prize they were playing for.
